FAN FEEDBACK TO BADGERSTATIC 25/05/13:

I can sense a pushing of the 60’s/70s blues guitar to the limit, much the same way as DJ Shadow did with his AKAI sampler on Entroducing.  I can hear this as a soundtrackto a film or ensemble concept story going on in the background through the melodic choices you switch to between tracks.

Almost famous?

DJ Krush did something of an ensemble for his 1995 self-titled album but yours is more bare bones. And by bare-bones I mean to say your palette of instruments is simple; blues guitar, bass, cymbals, live drums.  Not much by way of samples, pedal distortionof the FIVE tracks (CLAREDAT, SUPERFICIAL, PLOU SOMBRE MULLAT, CERTESA,SEDIMENT) I mentioned don’t vary that often but again it is in the melodic journey that I think your strength lies.

Come on then feed me weird things

Which leads me to ask are you using your REVERBNATION upload page as a way to test your subconscious? Or just tohave fun?  I don’t feel any single material here as such. Or underlining clear distinctive track that I can pick out of the many that you do have from memory. And it only by playing the tracks in real-time can I say this feels good, or I would like more of that.  Hence I could see you playing live and getting something of the same reaction SQUAREPUSHER received from a label scout on performing some material that would mutate into what we heard on FEED MEWEIRD THINGS.

Your drumming isrelaxed, free, rhythmic and pulsating in an afro-jazz sense.  Cymbals brisk, sharp and clean. Yourpercussion come through adequately in the total stereo/panning and equalisingmix-down.  At times your blues guitarverge on dramatic especially in tracks as: CLAREDAT, in the mid-section. Almostinto Guns n Roses territory.

Take it easy on my RL BURNSIDE collection

I think I can hear astory within most of your tracks begging to be told.  When you are in upbeat mood then it can be asolo Slash should step to, but when you are in more free-verse off the rails mode, then your tremolo parts can rival some of My Bloody Valentines, and early Kasabian’s intensity.
