MOTIVATION BY STAINLESS:

QUESTIONS AND HISTORY ON THE TRACK:

Before my first listen to this track I had two main questions. The first thing I as a member of artistserver asked is when did T-PAIN signup or what is he doing here?  I must have forgotten that more than 3 years ago there was an official T-Pain track MOTIVATED/MOTIVATION with K-what's his name here: http://www.slack-time.com/music-video-12481-K-Gates-Motivation

Was this track part of the contest?  One wonders because the youtube video upload was around sometime in 2011 yet the artistserver and soundcloud release was three months ago.

The second question was why didn't this track win the competition and how did it go about bringing out T-pain's style?

THE PRODUCTION AND IDENTITY OF THE REMIXER:

The production credits for the track goes to T-PAIN and his camp. This track in a nutshell is full of chunky snares, altogether eq meddled beat breaks that pings and recharges like a heart resuscitator. Not to mention Pharaoh Monch kind of trumpeted - trouble is coming - riffs, mouthing yeah....yeahs here and there, and some additional rap verses maybe by Stainless himself.

The sung chorus by T-Pain is cut in early, there are several namechecks to Stainless (a maneuver not done by the youtube contest winner).  The comedic twista twang rap by the man himself comes in eventually (if you are a dog, then I am a beast).

I don't know if this song was on T-Pain's studio album, if so I betcha it would be the 3rd track. You know the one with pumping beats, high tempo to run the treadmill on the gym with and keep you - the listener awake.

I don't know after listening to the track if my second question was answered. The one about how does this remix complement T-pain's original and sound?  More to the point or more interesting would be to ask what kind of identity does Stainless bring to the track?

Whereas the original was clean this one is distorted at parts. The compression, and stereo panning if applied in this track was decent and so when the vocal 'staaaaainlesssss' comes in it isn't out there like it's in a different room or on a dub from another artist. So it blends. I didn't get a taste of flaring on this as I would have expected.

It stripped down the early lengthy rhyme verses, and therefore brought the namechecking of 'stainless' to the fore, and so as a re-arrangement technique at least the youtube/artistserver/soundcloud listeners can remember (just as PhactsUnkown does a million times on his tracks) the name, and can't claim for themselves.

Instruments:  credit really goes to t-pain and his camp for the initial sound.
Ideas: re-arranged to put the remixer in the foreground and cleverly delaying the rhyme verse.
Mixdown: pings and recoils here and there, sounds like the volume of the overall wave was pushed to distortion.

Does this make me want to listen to another track by STAINLESS (STEELE) straight away?
Why not, I am looking for that identity.
